Best I can tell, education by human-wisdom-dependents nurtures self-reliance. And self-deception about the extent of our self-reliance. The more we’re educated the more we’re self-reliant and self-deceived — imagining our wisdom and understanding are worth leaning on. “Knowledge puffs up.” Adultlike, not childlike. INdependent, not DEpendent. Human-wisdom-dependent, not Jesus-dependent. Pride, not humility.

Education doesn’t HAVE to be so dangerous, but it is. Public, private, theological, whatever.

Human-wisdom is the enemy of happiness, especially for Christians. No wonder we Christians are so dismissed by seculars. We go through our day just like them — wise in our own eyes, leaning on our own understanding. Without the benefit of Jesus in THIS life.

What can we human-wisdom-dependent Christians DO? When the Spirit opens our eyes momentarily to see the problem, CONFESS. Ahhh.
