Other-worldly peace,

is the internal peace that surpasses understanding.  Has nothing to do with circumstances.  Worldly peace, on the other hand, is circumstance-dependent, and requires leaning on my own understanding, being wise in my own eyes.  Understanding-idolatry is the problem all humans have, both believer and nonbeliever.  Understanding-idolatry originated in the Garden.  Knowing good from bad circumstances is necessary for independency/self-reliance/confidence-I-know-what’s-best.  Without understanding, I’m helpless, childlike, powerless, dependent, unable to control my life.  Understanding-idolatry is what motivates me to read nonfiction books, attend seminars, research online, to better understand myself, others, and the world around me.  Independency/pride.  ShepherdDave.  Worldly peace.  Worldliness.  Confessing Jesus, but not experiencing  the benefit of Jesus.

–ShepherdDave, who sometimes sees the problem, but always needs fresh conviction of the sin of confidence-he-knows-what’s-best/dissatisfaction-with-Jesus-and-His-imputed-worthiness, so he might momentarily be DumbSheepDave, enjoying the other-worldly peace that surpasses understanding-idolatry, so the nonbelievers and believers  around him might experience the other-worldly humility and other-worldly love of Jesus
