What do I hate about ShepherdDave?

I hate that he’s so critical-judgmental of others, so competitive that he’s always searching for weaknesses in others so he feels better about himself.  I hate that ShepherdDave is shameless in people-watching so he can observe the bad taste of others, or their homeliness, or peculiarities, so he feels superior.  I hate that he’s always comparing his cool car to others’ cars, so he feels superior.  And when someone has a cooler car, he’s jealous of them.  It’s good we don’t live in a high-end area with tons of cooler cars.

I hate that when he goes online or watches TV, he’s always analyzing, judging, acting like the Critic Of The World, deciding what’s excellent, poor, mediocre.  UngraciousDave.

I’m sick of me.  I wannabe better, wannabe different, wannabe DumbSheepDave, not PatheticallyDysfunctionalShepherdDave, so I can feel better about myself.  Because Jesus is not-nearly enough for me

–ShepherdDave, needing fresh conviction of the sin of being dissatisfied with Jesus and His imputed worthiness, so he can momentarily enjoy himself  as PatheticallyDysfunctionalShepherdDave, so he can enjoy others just as they are, so the pre-believers around him might experience the love of Jesus

OUCH!!!! Thanks for the humbling lesson. Bottom line is we forget our total value comes from the Lord and since we are the beloved…….we shouldn’t need further reenforcement. Thanks for a much needed reminder.
